The ship was designed to meet the particular constraints of small wharves and shallow draughts. These ships can load and discharge a full cargo of 2,300 tonnes of sand or gravel in under three hours. The damaged gearbox was a hoisting gearbox for the deck crane. The OEM offered a new gearbox. Stork Gears & Services was hired for further analysis and repair.
