The Challenger wins European Championship in Sweden 2010

The Challenger wins Tractorpulling Championship 2010

This year Stork Gears & Services again is of the sponsors of The Challenger Tractor Pulling team. Just like in our everyday projects, the man-machine interaction and cooperation is fully utilised and the involvings powers are always challenging! This year the cooperation with the Challenger team resulted in winning the European Championship in Sweden!

Stork Gears & Services is very proud of this magnificent result. The main input of Stork Gears & Services consisted of sponsoring the Klingelnberg gear set of The Challenger. The Klingelnberg gear set was especially engineered for this event by Stork's senior engineer Gerard van Vliet. "These sets are specially designed and manufactured for extreme power explosions and are very different from normally used standard sets designed for trucks and common tractors", explains Gerard van Vliet. The teeth are cut with the Klingelnberg Cyclo Palloid system which is world famous for its insensitivity towards elastic deformation of shafts, bearings and housing and therefore towards mounting inaccuracies.

Stork Gears & Services again proves to be a world leader in technically challenging gear technology. Read more about The Challenger (in Dutch): http://www.thechallenger.nl

About Tractor pulling
Tractor pulling is a competition using tractors to pull a heavy sled along a track. Usually the sled offers progressively greater resistance as it is pulled. It can be a great spectacle, and although the vehicle produces a great deal of noise and smoke and throws dirt everywhere, it doesn't actually travel very far.

There are many different classes, from 'factory' tractors to custom built vehicles with multiple engines. The best pull is made when the tractor has a quick start. At the start of the track the sled is easy to pull, so a lot of speed can be developed. When the friction increases, the speed of the sled and tractor makes that the whole keeps sliding a few meters more. Nowadays the tractor kills the engines at about 90 or sometimes 80 meters, the speed is that high that a full pull is a piece of cake.
