Winergy gearbox repair

There has been a tremendous growth in the use of wind energy in Europe, which has a strong environmental and economic security policy framework to support wind energy. Rapid technical developments, gear design innovations and ongoing increase of power capacity characterize this booming market. Winergy gear units are being used e.g. in off-shore wind farms with a nominal power rating of 5 MW.

Stork Gears & Services is in the business of repair/maintenance of gearboxes of several OEM’s for several decades. Stork is an independent service supplier and is not bound by contractual relationships with any OEM. Our customers appreciate our short delivery times and the quality of our service.

Stork Gears & Services has experience in the repair of Flender Winergy gearboxes.

Projectdescription
Stork Gears & Services acquired the contract for the complete overhaul of the parallel gearbox of the wind turbine. The project also involved the manufacturing of the ancillary equipment by reverse engineering.

These gearbox applications are subjected to high loads and suffer from high rates of wear under such demanding usage. Modification of the spline coupling between the planetary and helical part was necessary. Stork Gears & Services modified the spline coupling with laser cladding repair techniques. Laser cladding is a highly flexible repair technique and a promising technology to restore damaged parts instead of replacement. The whole project was executed within six weeks, in close cooperation with the service company Hoeksta.
